Overall size: 72.5 cm x 51 cm. Image size 61cm x 37 cm
In his P51D Mustang ‘Moonbeam McSwine’, Captain ‘Whiz’ Whisner leads Red Section of the 487th FS 352nd FG headlong into the defense of their airfield at Asch, Belgium. At dawn, on the New Year’s Day of 1945, Whisner was to be responsible for four of the twenty three German fighters of JG11 shot down by the 352nd. So rapid was the American response that the German attack was repelled, and the 487th was subsequently awarded a Distinguished Unit Citation.
