Battle of Britain 15th September 1940
On this day Sergeant D.G.S.R- Cox with No.19 Squadron got involved in a dogfight with Me 109 fighters of 2./JG 27 one of whom he managed to shoot down. Having followed the enemy plane down below some cloud cover he found that it had crash landed in fields about five miles east of Crowborough near Bekesbourne, and its pilot Unteroffizier, A. Walburger having climbed out of the burning plane had been Captured by local home guard troops exercising nearby.
