Battle of Britain 31st August 1940.On a misty morning of August Sgt "Darky" Clowes of No I Sqd carried out a frontal allack on a fomation of Dornier 17zs opening fire from the eight browning machine guns of his Hurricane he saw two break away. One of which spun down enveloped in smoke. He was then jumped by Bf I IOs and looped tightly into their attack, as they met head on he fired a short burst, which hit the starboard engine of one of his assailants
