Buccaneer Away! by Mark Littlejohn
Battles and Aircraft of the Fleet Air Arm
On the 9th of July 1961 HMS Victorious with her large air group and Type 984 Radar reached Bahrain and took charge of the air defence of the state of Kuwait,on the Persian Gulf after its ruler asked for British assistance.Major General Abdul Kassem of Iraq had claimed sovereignty over Kuwait, but the arrival of powerful British forces in the area ensured the crisis had subsided by September. Here a Buccaneer is launched at the start of its mission ready to respond at a moments notice.
